5 steps to incorporate color into your wardrobe
Minimalism has remained the main trend over the years. He haunted us in everything: in styles, in color combinations, in interior design, even in trending layouts of the Instagram feed. But recent developments have slightly changed the course of fashion.
The past 2020 turned out to be very, very difficult. Locked in our apartments, we are so tired of the dullness and routine of the home lifestyle that the designers decided: we need a holiday! And while the complete lifting of restrictive measures is seen only in the bright future, fashion designers propose adding color to the life of the holiday here and now. The spring-summer 2021 collection shows were full of bright colors! Therefore, in order to keep our beloved readers in trend, in this article we will tell you about the most fashionable color combinations in spring-summer 2021 and how to gradually introduce them into your wardrobe without stress. Read, get inspired and create a holiday for yourself!
Starting small
From our own experience, we know that many girls may simply not be comfortable wearing bright clothes because of the fear to stand out very much or choose the wrong color. Therefore, in order to overcome the fear of color, we propose to start introducing it into the images in doses – with the help of accessories. Collect your usual looks and add to them bright catchy earrings or shoes of your favorite crazy color! Play on contrasts: wear bright avant-garde jewelry with basic jeans and a T-shirt, or a jogger + hoodie set, and you can safely sign up for style icons.
Pay attention to how simple sets are transformed with bright accessories!
Add muted and pastel shades to your wardrobe
To become a guru of color combinations, you need to know “your colors” well, have a lot of attention and experiment a lot! But first, you can try combining muted and pastel colors. In color theory, such shades are called neutralizers, since they perfectly complement achromats and reduce the degree of brightness of images with bright colors. And most importantly, they mix well with each other, so you can safely combine different shades and not be afraid to miscalculate.
Experimenting with color
When you feel that you want bright colors, start gradually introducing larger color spots into your looks: colored tops, vests, trousers, bright outerwear, jackets. Combine colored items with clothing in neutral shades such as black, white, gray, beige. So you will definitely be sure that the colors in the image are combined.
And Pantone called this combination the main color combination of 2021: Ultimate gray and Illuminating. A combination of “strength and optimism”, sunshine and reliable support, as described on the official Pantone website. Use these shades in your looks, and you will be at the peak of world trends.
Neon is the brightest trend of the last season. Combine neon clothes with denim, or, as we wrote above, with universal colors (black, white, gray, beige), and be in trend!
We combine bright colors and neutralizers
Advanced level – to combine bright colors not only with black and white, but also with other saturated shades. Neutralizers are muted or bleached (pastel) shades. They are more versatile in combination, so they can make it easier to match colors in one look. Therefore, before moving on to bright combinations, practice combining rich shades with neutralizers.
See how cool Leonie Hanne combines different shades of yellow: she takes on darker muted shades, creates a contrast with pastel shades and makes the accent bright and saturated with color!
The most versatile color neutralizer is jeans. Choose any model of your favorite shade, add bright and even neon things, and the image will always look harmonious.
Analyze the looks of street style stars and notice how they complement bright pieces with more neutral ones, and thus balance the color balance in their looks.
Heavy artillery
And finally, we got to the most interesting thing: a combination of bright saturated colors in one look and a color block! Get inspired by these images and don’t be afraid to experiment!
Spring / Summer 2021 hint: The trendiest color combinations will come from the main Pantone palette for Spring / Summer 2021. Combine any shades from this palette and you will be the brightest and most stylish.
