Balmain collection spring-summer 2021
Leather and 2,000,000 Swarovski crystals, flashy neon and a tolerant gray palette, pantsuits and cycling shorts, bell bottoms and pointed pagoda shoulders, jersey and denim, whimsical draperies and asymmetry – the Balmain collection was both glamorous and post-pandemic, modern and archival.
Having carefully studied the archives of the 70s, the creative director of the French fashion house Oliver Rousteing decided to rely on bell-bottomed trousers and jeans and a radical shoulder line. The central and unifying element of the collection is the PB monogram. In the seventies, Pierre Balmain decorated his bags and suitcases with it, and in the spring-summer collection 2021 Olver Rousteing placed it on wide trousers with a high waist, capes, overalls, raincoats, trouser suits, jackets, handbags and pointed ankle boots.
