Paracetamol, ibuprofen, aspirin ... What painkiller according to my needs

Paracetamol

Marketed under various names, doliprane, dafalgan, or even efferalgan, paracetamol is the drug of first resort. And for good reason, it is rarely responsible for adverse effects - except in case of overdose - and it is addressed to all, pregnant women and young children included. "It is recommended to treat all types of mild to moderate pain, backache, headache, menstrual pain and even fever", say the two specialists. Its only contraindications are patients with serious liver diseases, and the few rare allergic.

What about the dosage? For an adult (over 50 kg), 1 to 2 doses of 500 mg every 6 hours are recommended.

ibuprofen

I named advil, nurofen or spedifen. Ibuprofen is an analgesic and an anti-inflammatory, prohibited to pregnant women, people with stomach problems, allergic to aspirin and people who have problems of excessive clotting. "Generally, it is offered as second-line, if the person is not relieved by paracetamol (or other natural remedies) ", they describe. Another precaution not to neglect: take it during meals. "The bolus allows a better ingestion of the drug".

Finally, like paracetamol, ibuprofen treats any type of pain, low to moderate, here too, back pain, headaches, including menstrual pain and even fever. Plus, ibuprofen is also used to calm inflammation.

What about the dosage? For adults (over 50 kg), 1 to 2 doses of 200 mg are recommended every 6 hours.

aspirin

Last but not least, aspirin. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory and fluidizing at low dose, aspirin is proscribed in pregnant women, in people with stomach problems, being allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen, suffering from ulcers or being hemophiliacs . It is also not recommended for children. You will therefore understand this long list, taking aspirin to treat mild to moderate pain, backache, headaches, pain of periods or fever, is not insignificant. That's why we take precautions before guarding. These include: taking aspirin during meals. Here too, "the bolus allows a better ingestion of the drug".
